INFIRM ELDERS AND THOSE IN HOSPICE CARE
Elders and people with life-threatening illnesses can benefit from one or both of these types of therapeutic bodywork:
Elder-massage:
Elder-massage is a soothing, gentle form of Swedish massage in which the practitioner rubs a light lotion or oil on sore areas of the client’s body. Geared specifically toward the aging or ill person, Elder-massage can increase circulation; soothe stiff and underused muscles; reduce spasms and cramping; increase joint flexibility; and induce a better night’s sleep.
Elder-massage is also beneficial to people living with dementia, as it helps them to deeply relax and connect to the pleasant aspects of human contact.
Reiki
Reiki is a powerful, non-invasive technique for helping to balance the body’s natural energy flow. In a typical Reiki session, the client remains fully clothed while the practitioner places his or her hands strategically on the client’s body to open up blockages and restore a sense of well-being.
Reiki is especially helpful for those living with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, since the hands of the practitioner are usually held quite still except when moving from place to place around the body, producing a profoundly relaxed and regenerative state.

All sessions are conducted in the client’s home or residential facility, and are provided with the utmost skill and compassion.
60 minutes $80; 30 minutes $40
Shorter sessions may also be available in certain circumstances.
